My PvP Addons

Player versus Player combat requires fast reactions, situational awareness, and deep class knowledge. While the default user interface has improved, using specialized addons gives you a significant advantage in Battlegrounds and Arenas. This guide lists the best PvP addons to help you track enemy cooldowns, manage crowd control, and make better decisions in real-time combat.

Core PvP Addons

These addons are essential for any player who wants to climb the rated Arena or Battleground ladders.

  • sArena / GladiusEx: These addons replace the default arena enemy frames. They show you the health, mana, and casting bars of your opponents clearly. They also track enemy PvP trinket cooldowns, crowd control duration, and major defensive spells directly next to their frames.
  • Omnibar: This is a vital tool for tracking enemy interrupt abilities (like Kick or Counterspell) and offensive cooldowns. When an opponent uses an interrupt, Omnibar displays a timer on your screen showing when that ability will be ready again. This tells you exactly when it is safe to cast your spells.
  • BigDebuffs: In PvP, you must react to crowd control immediately. BigDebuffs increases the size of important crowd control icons (like Polymorph, Fear, or Stun) directly on your unit frames. This helps healers see instantly who needs to be cleansed or dispelled.
  • BattlegroundTargets: Essential for Rated Battlegrounds, this addon displays a list of all enemy players, their roles, health, and who on your team is currently targeting them. It makes targeting and coordination easy for your team.

Utility and Awareness Addons

These tools help you keep track of your own positioning and the actions of the players around you.

How to Set Up Your PvP Interface

A cluttered screen is your worst enemy in PvP. Follow these tips to set up your interface correctly:

  1. Keep the Center Clear: Place your character frame, target frame, and Omnibar close to the center of your screen, but do not block your view of your character’s feet. You must be able to see ground effects and enemy movement clearly.
  2. Filter Your Buffs: Use your addon settings to hide useless buffs and only show major combat buffs, like temporary stat increases or defensive shields.
  3. Set Up Keybinds: Never click your PvP abilities with your mouse. Bind your trinket, focus targets, and crowd control spells to keys that are easy to reach in a hurry (like Q, E, R, and F).

Need Help Setting Up Your Addons?

Some of these tools can be difficult to configure if you are new to competitive play. If you need help importing a profile for GladiusEx or want to know which WeakAuras I recommend for your specific class, send me an email at info@papunika.com. Tell me what class you play, and I will share my personal configurations to help you get started.

Using PvP addons is about making complex information easy to read during fast combat. Start with one or two basic tools, learn how they work, and slowly build a setup that fits your play style. I will see you in the Arena.
